Today, the traditional fashion system has been called into question.
We are into a radical rethink of both the runway and retail calendar.
We are also searching ambitiously for other innovative business models
for our young and established fashion brands.
We are thinking more and more about sustainable solutions
for what is an extremely consuming fashion industry.
Has anything changed since Rana Plaza?
What is the future for independent fashion labels?
Now it's time to unite,
to collaborate on a higher level.
Since 2014 more than 30 national and regional European fashion councils, promotion associations, incubators and a number of fashion professionals unite yearly to reflect about the future of European fashion design, independent fashion designers and labels.
/THE CURRENT STATUS OF FASHION DESIGN IN EUROPE
/THE MAJOR CHALLENGES DESIGNERS & LABELS ARE FACING NOW AND IN THE FUTURE
/OBJECTIVES & SOLUTIONS TO SECURE THE FUTURE OF EUROPEAN CREATIVITY
/the exchange of information and knowledge about best practices in the fashion sector
In 2016 the attending fashion councils and institutions signed a letter of intention to join forces and cooperate officially on a European level, to facilitate a closer collaboration between European partners within an official network by sharing information, knowledge, contacts and offering a connection platform to all actors of the European fashion design sector/industry such as independent fashion designers & labels, schools & students and all professionals active in the fashion sector.
In 2017 the call for action has been translated in the UNITED FASHION project, supported and funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Commission.
During the 4th edition of the MADIFESTO - EUROPEAN FASHION SUMMIT on 14 & 15 November 2017, UNITED FASHION will be presented and will also be translated in the launch of the very first european-scale fashion professionals network:
THE FASHION COUNCIL EUROPE.
